About This Place

蘇Good 餐廳 So Good Chinese Restaurant is a charming Hong Kong–style eatery nestled in the heart of Richmond Hill, offering an authentic taste of classic Cantonese and Hong Kong café cuisine. Ideal for a cozy family meal or a casual lunch, this spot brings forward a rich menu filled with comforting favorites and a few standout specialties that satisfy both the palate and the soul.

The restaurant’s culinary strength lies in its masterful preparation of classic dishes like Steamed Fish, which delights with its delicate, flaky texture and subtle freshness, and the iconic 咕嚕肉 (Sweet and Sour Pork), where crispy, succulent pork pieces meet a perfectly balanced tangy glaze. Fans of noodle dishes will find the 乾炒牛河 (Stir Fried Beef Rice Noodles) exceptionally inviting—wok-tossed to tender perfection with a fragrant blend of soy sauce and fresh beef slices, capturing that quintessential Cantonese smoky aroma. Other favorites such as the Salted Fish Chicken Eggplant Clay Pot and the indulgent Baked Pork Chop on Rice in Tomato Sauce add heartiness and depth, showcasing a range of textures from tender meats to rich, savory sauces.

The vegetable selections, including the vibrant Kale w Oyster Sauce and the delicate Roast Green Beans, provide fresh, earthy counterpoints to the more robust flavors, while the drinks menu boasts a silky-smooth Hong Kong Milk Tea that perfectly complements the meal, rounding out the experience with nostalgic comfort.

Dining at 蘇Good is akin to stepping into a welcoming local gem, where the modest and slightly retro décor belies the quality and generosity of the offerings. The restaurant’s intimate setting—about a dozen tables—creates a casual ambiance that feels both inviting and unpretentious, perfect for families, friends, or quick solo lunches. Service is notably attentive and efficient, ensuring your meal arrives hot and satisfying every time.

Customer feedback consistently highlights not just the authenticity but also the value found here. The generous portions, praised by many, mean you leave feeling truly satisfied without stretching your budget. Signature items like the Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice and the Curry Beef Brisket stand out for their tender, rich flavors and home-style heartiness. One guest described the baked fish fillet with cheese and cream sauce as a “savoury delight” served piping hot with crispy toppings that contrast beautifully with the fluffy fried rice beneath.

In essence, 蘇Good 餐廳 is a treasure for anyone seeking flavorful, comforting Hong Kong cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you crave the rich spices of curry dishes, the smoky wok-hei of dry fried noodles, or simply a well-made cup of milk tea, this restaurant delivers with authenticity and care. It’s a place where every bite evokes a sense of familiarity and warmth, making it a beloved neighborhood spot well worth a visit.

Affordable Chinese pick your own dinner set. We ordered 5 mains and it came with soup of the day and white rice. Portion was generous. Taste was on par with other Chinese restaurants. Tofu pudding was included as a dessert.

The food here is surprisingly good! We had the Baked Portuguese chicken rice which was very tasty. The curry beef brisket was excellent! Very tender, tasty and not too spicy. And then we had the stir friend beef rice noodle which was also good. The milk tea was delicious and service was quick and attentive. The atmosphere is outdated but otherwise, definitely recommend this place for lunch and dinner as the prices are very reasonable and actually cheaper than other places, especially for the dinner combos.

A cozy Hong Kong–style café with about a dozen tables — not a big place, but friendly and casual, perfect for a quick meal with family or kids. Prices are reasonable, and they have a great variety of curry dishes along with other classic HK café items. The food is tasty, and the service is quick and efficient. Overall, a nice neighborhood spot for a casual bite when you’re craving simple, comforting Hong Kong–style food.

A good value restaurant in Richmond Hill, especially for their large afternoon tea portions. Their baked pork chop rice and curry are also delicious. Very famous.

So good to find a new HK restaurant that focuses on good taste! The menu here is reasonably priced for the HK cafe food that’s available till 5pm. We were impressed by the huge portions & surprisingly good flavours. Baked Fish Fillet w/ Cheese & Cream Sauce was savoury & arrived hot loaded with crispy fillets. Fried rice underneath filled the large oven dish. Curry Beef Brisket Rice was stewed well to achieve really tender tendons. We arrived shortly after 5pm and were allowed to order from the menu minus the free hot milk tea, which was not a big deal. We did notice the environment gets loud, fairly packed with patrons.

First time trying this place today. We are on the hunt for a great Baked Portuguese chicken on rice. Ill have to say it was pretty good. Good location for us. Chicken was on the saltier, slightly sour side. But overall a very good competitor. Will be back to try the cream sauce and tomato sauce chicken or pork chop on rice.
